COVID-19 Update – Tue 2 Mar

Dear Badminton Community,

The NZ Government have announced that the Manawatu region moved into Alert Level 2 at 6am on Sun 28 Feb for a period of 7 days.

Please read below for how this impacts our events that you may be involved in over this week:

  • Masters Rep Trials (Sun 28 Feb) – Postponed.
    • Masters / Vets / Super-Vets trials will now be Sun 7 Mar & Sun 14 Mar, subject to Manawatu being in Alert Level 1. Alternative venues for use during Alert Level 2 are also being explored.
  • Meet the Coaches (Tue 2 Mar) – u13 & u15 Going Ahead. U17 & u19 Postponed.
    • U13 & u15 Meet the Coaches will take place at the NEW TIME of 6pm at Marist Clubrooms this week. There will NOT be any pizza and tracksuits will not be distributed under Alert Level 2. Players & parents may bring food with them but must take all rubbish home.
    • The u17 & u19 age groups have been postponed to ensure that we remain under the 100-person gathering limit in the venue. U17 & u19 meet the coaches shall now take place at the start of training next week at 5:30pm-6pm at PNINS (Tue 9 Mar)
  • Senior Rep Trials (Wed 3 Mar) – Going Ahead.
    • These trials have been moved to the Feilding Civic Centre 6:30pm-9pm. A later start to allow everyone more time to arrive on time. Any junior or non-drivers needing transport, please ask another trialist or contact us and we can help.
  • Year 5-8 School Comp (Thu 4 Mar) – Cancelled.
    • We have not been able to secure additional venue/courts. Given the anticipated number of participants and limited space in the only venue available to us, we have decided to cancel the competition this week. We will look at incorporating extra matches during the remaining weeks, to balance out the competition.
  • TNBL (Thu 4 Mar) – Going Ahead.
    • Proceeding under Alert Level 2 conditions in Arena 3 for all those teams scheduled to play.
  • Shuttle Time Badge Course (Fri 5 Mar) – Postponed.
    • We are not able to play at PNINS during Alert Level 2. We will run an extra week at the start of Term 2, meaning the end date is now Fri 14 May.
  • Masters Rep Trials (Sun 7 Mar) – Going ahead.
    • The Masters / Vets / Super-Vets trials will now be held at Feilding Civic Centre on Sun 7 Mar at 4pm-7pm. We hope that sun 14 Mar trials will be held at PNINS during Alert Level 1.

TNBL Update – 13/08/20

Dear TNBL’ers,

TNBL will go ahead as planned tomorrow, as we are able to meet all the venue and Government restrictions for hosting a mass gathering.

The draw will remain the same, other than 1 change: 2 matches pushed back to start at 7:45pm, to ensure we do not go over the 100-person limit during the change-over between rounds:

  • Box of Roses vs Yellow (Grade 2)
  • Clapt Out vs Eel S D (Grade 1)

Also, everyone should re-familiarise themselves with our COVID-19 Health and Safety Procedure, which has been updated to reflect the current conditions of Alert Level 2. This is available on our website here:

Key information

  • Do not attend if you are unwell. Let your team and/or us know and we will try to find a substitute.
  • Arrive into the B&M Centre 10-15 mins before the start of your match, no earlier.
  • Everyone must wash hands upon entry & exit into the B&M Centre.
  • Contact tracing of ALL people attending TNBL (adults & juniors). BEFORE TNBL, please email me the following information for EVERY member of your team to speed up the sign-in process within the hall:
    • Full Name
    • Address
    • Email
    • Phone Number
  • No inter-mingling with Rainbow Club (Ballroom will be classed as a separate venue to the B&M Centre). You must not attend Rainbow Club if you are playing TNBL on the same night.
  • No spectators are allowed, unless they are a child or parent of those playing. Again, spectators must sign in and are included in the 100-person gathering limit.
  • Please do not mingle after completing the matches as the players for the 7:30pm round will be arriving to play and we must not go over the 100-person limit.
  • Entry into Arena grounds is via GATE 1 only (Waldegrave St.). Please allow extra time for COVID-19-related procedures when arriving to play your ties.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to get in contact with me.
