Term 1 – Shuttle Time Yr 5-8 Schools Competition

Term 1 Shuttle Time Years 5-8 Schools Competition

This is a chance for any students in years 5-8 to get involved in badminton and represent their school. The competition is open to all abilities from beginners to u13 reps. We encourage everyone to take part! We provide racquets to borrow and shuttles, so all you have to do is turn up with indoor sports shoes. Badminton encourages speed, agility, hand-eye coordination, social skills and sportsmanship.

– Players are limited to 196 maximum (3 per team).
– There will be 2 rounds of ties (round one at 3:40pm and round two at 4:40pm).
– Each team will play 1 tie each week (either in round 1 or round 2).
– All round 1 players/teams must leave the venue after their ties. Round 2 players will enter after this to play their games.

Competition Rules
– Each tie consists of 6 timed games that last 7 minutes each (or to 21 points). This includes 3x singles & 3x doubles games.
– Each player will play 1x singles and 2x doubles games per tie. During the COVID-19 Red setting there will 1 tie per day per team.
– A sub can be used, please arrange the sub before the competition. When only one player turns up – if we can, we will play the games but all the points will go to the full team.  Please tell your players that they are on a team and they must turn-up to play with their team mate. It is very difficult to arrange matches when only one player turns up as we cannot fulfil the doubles games.  All the children/teams miss out on getting games/matches when this happens.
– Please let us know if any of your players cannot make the competition on any particular week.
