MBA Trophy Winners for 2009 presented at the 2010 AGM
The following awards for the 2009 season were presented at the 2010 AGM on Wednesday night Feb 10. A big congragulations to all our winners!
The Jack Shirley Memorial Award
Jack Shirley was a founding member of the Monrad Club and was made a life member of the MBA for his services to badminton over a 30-year period.
The Award is presented annually to an affiliated member of the MBA who has given up his/her time to better the game in the Manawatu.

Congragulations to MIKE NEWTON!
Mike is the president of the Palmerston North Badminton Club and is also one of Manawatu's top players. PNBC has big numbers and a thriving Junior Badminton club, and Mike has been a big part of the club's success. He has also helped out at the North Island Age Group Individuals as well as providing his IT skills for Interclub results. Mike is also a dedicated coach and will be taking the MBA U13s for the 2010 season.
The Ezibuy Personality Cup
This cup is presented annually to an affiliated member of the MBA who added 'something special' to badminton in the Manawatu.
Congragulations to ROSE WAPP!
Rose has recently taken up the sport again after a long hiatus. Her infectious enthusiasm for the sport has been a big factor in her rapid progress, she won two national titles last year at the NZ Masters and she is currently in our Div 3 Masters team and the Division 5 senior team. She has also taken on a coaching role, which saw her take the MBA U13s last year and doing the Level 1 coaching course, she will continue coaching this year taking the MBA U15s.
The Stevenson Trophy
Donated by Ivan Stevenson (our current Patron) who was made a life member of the MBA in 1996.
The trophy is presented annually to an affiliated member of the MBA who has striven to improve personal results, contributed to their team's performance & in addition been reliable and co-operative.
First presented in 1997
Congragulations to JOSEPH WILSON!
Joseph is a very popular member of both the MBA U17s and the top Central Region June Bevan team. He is a role model and an inspiration to both our junior and senior players. His work ethic and committment to training is second to none. It is only a matter of time before this talented youngster rises to the top of the junior and senior ranks.
The Springfield Cup
Donated by L Gloyn of Springfields, RD 3 Palmerston North in 1970. .
The trophy is presented annually to an affiliated member of the MBA who has striven to improve personal results, contributed to their team's performance & in addition been reliable and co-operative.
Presented to a member of the top division team who showed the most co-operation & determination.
Congragulations to WAYNE YOUNG!
Wayne has shown commitment and support to the Division 3 and Division 5 teams in both practices and competition.
