u15 & u19 Central Regions 2010

Central Region Tie Results Sunday Aug 1 at the B&M Centre

The final round of the Central Regions u15 & u19 for 2010 was held yesterday.

U15s
Wellington North won the u15 section for the first time which builds on their success at u13 level last year.

The ties between the teams were very close causing many of the ties to run over time. The closeness of the ties was reflected in the the fact that the losers in 13 out of the 15 ties scored more than 500 points.

Manawatu results were:

Manawatu 1 vs Wellington North lost 10 – 6
Manawatu 1 vs Hawkes Bay 1 lost 9 – 7
Manawatu 1 vs Hutt Valley won 11 – 5

Manawatu 2 vs Hawkes Bay 2 won 11 – 5
Manawatu 2 vs Wellington won 10 – 5
Manawatu 2 vs Wanganui won 12 – 4

U19s

Hutt Valley survived a very close battle with Wellington to take the honours in the U19 section and to record their second title in the 7 years of this competition.

The closeness of the Tie was marked by the 399-399 points scored and a one game difference in the 6-5 contest.

Manawatu 1 vs Hutt Valley lost 8 – 3
Manawatu 1 vs Wellington 1 lost 8 – 3
Manawatu 1 vs Horowhenua – Kapiti won 6 – 5

Manawatu 2 vs Wanganui 1 won 7 – 4
Manawatu 2 vs Horowhenua Kapiti 8 – 3
Manawatu 2 vs Hawkes bay lost 7 – 4

Well done to all our Manawatu players. As the tie sheets have not yet been posted there is not much I can say in terms of individual performances but it must be noted that our top U19 team did well to even field a team this year, our thanks to Maxie Ouyang who agreed to play and who managed to coax Erin and Sophie to return.

Our 2nd U19 team who are composed of members of our U17 team did very well to compete at this level..
