Badminton a winner on the night
In a momentous occasion for local badminton, Janice Cudby (President/Treasurer of Badminton Manawatu) was announced as the Manawatu Standard Sport Administrator of the Year at the 2009 Central Energy Trust Manawatu Sportsperson of the Year Awards. Held at the Awapuni Function Centre, Palmerston North on the evening of Fri 13 November 2009.
In a purely voluntary capacity Janice has had an exceptional 12 months, as well as being part of the Badminton NZ events committee and an active player at local and representative level, in the nomination period she has been involved extensively with both the 2008 and 2009 NZ Badminton Opens. including, but not limited to, transport supervision, cashier, venue setup, match control and announcing. She has been Tournament Director for the North Island U19 Teams Championships, Deputy Tournament Director for the North Island U15&U17 Age Group Championships, Team Manager for the Central Region U23 Team. As well as becoming President in Feb 2009 (while continuing as Treasurer) and a driving force behind the appointment of a Development Officer to commence in Jan 2010.
Her success was acknowledged with great enthusiasm by the many others from the local badminton community who were present for the Awards evening.
